This year there might start the construction of the 25-story hotel on the territory of the parking lot in a Theater District. The property at the Tremont and Stuart streets have formerly been approved by city as a Loews hotel, but is now planned as a W hotel, though it is not yet clear whether the W flag is chosen or not. But probably, like all the other W hotels, this one will be a boutique-like, with the service of a luxury brand and will have of about 220 rooms, with 100 luxury residential condominiums on the upper floors and two levels of parking underground for 140 spaces. Moreover, John P. Connolly, vice president of development for Sawyer Enterprises, said he hopes to win approval for condos with performing arts space on the fourth floor to have been used by Emerson College. By the way, there has recently been reached an agreement to create a lively and colorful "gateway" building in the area, across Tremont Street from the hotel site and next to The Wilbur Theatre. The hotel building will be only a block or two from MBTA stations on the Green and Orange lines.
