New Campus to be Built For Harvard University (2006-03-07)

It was recently announced that Harvard University, which owns about 350 acres of land in Allston, Boston, decided to expand its territory. In order to do this, it concluded an agreement with Behnisch & Partner to design a 500,000-square-foot science complex and stem cell research facility. This will be a part of the whole expanding project, which includes 200 acres for classrooms, residential buildings, cultural facilities, labs and other uses. According to Chris Gordon, chief operating officer of the campus expansion project, the building will be an example of a vast range of styles, however, in keeping with the existing Allston neighborhood: the layout of the complex will follow the example of Harvard Yard with its open corners, varied groupings and a vast range of materials, from signature red brick to glass and steel.
